MLB.tv

I now see what I was missing with only having the basic MLB.tv package last season, after the season started.

I subscribed to MLB.tv Premium this year, and it comes with more viewing options, plus I can use the At Bat 12 app, which I didn’t have last year, for free.  They also stripped down the basic package, from what I can remember of last year’s basic package.

I’ve been able to catch both of the Mets’ preseason games so far, on my Kindle Fire.

Ain’t technology great?

Ending

It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.

… and summer was gone.

See you next year, baseball.

Weekend Randomness

DVR catchup time:

Terra Nova: Good show so far, strongest premiere episode that I’ve seen in a while.
Castle: Awesome superhero-themed episode. ’nuff said.
Hawaii Five-O: Unfortunate turn of events for Kono.  And the mole angle is rather annoying, like they took a page from 24.
Alphas: Hands down far superior than Heroes ever was.  Looking forward to the next season.
Glee: Just when I thought I was going to drop this series, it seems to have gotten better again, though the new ‘Quinn’s baby drama’ might be enough to turn me off.
New Girl: Picked up for a full season by FOX, and a casting change in the second episode, I’m still enjoying it, silly as it is.
Person of Interest: I’m really liking this show.  Interesting premise, and the two lead characters are pretty cool, in their own ways.
Big Bang Theory: Still funny, to me.  In any given episode, the main characters do something that I could see myself or someone that I know do.
Nikita: Yep, quite a game changer.  Did not see Birkoff reappearing to help Michael and Nikita.  And I’m one episode behind.  Again.
Young Justice: This really is the true successor to Justice League/Justice League Unlimited.
Doctor Who: Loved the finale.  All of it made sense, taken as a whole.  Loved the “Pond.  Amelia Pond.” line.

And I didn’t mention it last week, but my new guilty pleasure show is Pan Am.  Enough was laid out in that pilot episode to keep me interested in watching.  Plus, Christina Ricci in a stewardess uniform.  Buh.

New microwave acquired.  Never had one with a ‘popcorn’ button, which works wonderfully.

Had a package of ramen today.  I can’t remember the last time I made this for myself.

I figured I could have ramen because I really have been watching what I’m eating lately, or more specifically, how much I’ve been eating.  I’ve lost about 2 pounds in 2 weeks.

Sports quickies:

Good win by Spurs over Arsenal this morning.

My baseball playoff picks:

  • Yankees over Detroit
  • Rangers over Tampa Bay
  • D’Backs over Brewers
  • Cards over Phillies

Guess I’m not doing too good so far, huh?
