3 months in on owning a Kindle Fire, there were issues with DC Comics on the ComiXology app.  Specifically, they took a while to appear on the Fire, sometimes hours after purchasing them online at comixology.com.

Around that time, people started to complain that DC’s books were not updated in the Comics Store on the app on the Fire, with most new 52 titles stopping at issue #3.

As of about 2 weeks ago, ComiXology posted on their blog that DC Comics were no longer available for purchase through the Kindle Fire’s ComiXology app, though they were available for purchase on their site for later download to the Fire.

I missed that memo, and after checking today, I find no trace of DC in the Comics Store, yet I can still download their comics to my Fire.

The distressing part is that ComiXology/DC/Amazon have not given any reason why the change in policy toward DC Comics on the Kindle Fire, even after repeatedly being asked on their own forums for the past 3-4 months.

As a tangent to this, today I learned that the ‘exclusive’ DC graphic novels that I bought on the Fire are now available to download to any Kindle Android app, including my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and my new Epic 4G Touch phone.

So since it’s easier to deal with DC Comics on my tablet/phone, and I can now read those Kindle Fire ‘exclusive’ graphic novels on my tablet/phone, my Kindle Fire is basically relegated to e-reader/video player.

Though except for Hulu+, I can get the other video sources (Netflix/Amazon Instant) to play on my tablet/phone.
