{"id":2264,"date":"2017-10-15T22:23:29","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T05:23:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/?p=2264"},"modified":"2017-10-15T22:23:29","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T05:23:29","slug":"first-play-a-wing-and-a-prayer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/first-play-a-wing-and-a-prayer\/","title":{"rendered":"First Play: A Wing and A Prayer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got around to trying out this game.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1916\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/wingprayer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"473\" height=\"630\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/wingprayer.jpg 473w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/wingprayer-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I played the short campaign, covering the early bombing missions from August to December 1942.\u00a0 5 missions total.<\/p>\n<p>Heavy damage was inflicted on the following targets:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>St. Omer (aircraft factory)<\/li>\n<li>Lille (industrial center)<\/li>\n<li>Antwerp (industrial center)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following targets were completely destroyed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cherbourg (aircraft factory)<\/li>\n<li>Rotterdam (marshalling yard)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of the 12 B-17F bombers under my command, the following 10 ended the campaign with better than &#8216;green&#8217; crews:<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;crack&#8217; crew:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Slavo Sally<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Jersey Bounce<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Queenie<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Hell&#8217;s Angels<\/em> (lead bomber throughout campaign)<\/li>\n<li><em>Big Red<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Demo Darling<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Green Hornet<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8216;veteran&#8217; crew<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Chow Hound<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Pueblo Vengence<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Peoria Bell<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>12 Campaign victory points, resulting in:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Major Victory<\/strong>: War shortened by 3 months.\u00a0 You earn the Silver Star and an eventual promotion to Brigadier General.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is possibly my second favorite of the four B-17 bomber games that I own, right below <em>B-17 Queen of the Skies<\/em>, and ahead of <em>B-17 Flying Fortress Leader<\/em> and <em>Target for Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Finally got around to trying out this game.
