{"id":2285,"date":"2017-10-22T09:17:40","date_gmt":"2017-10-22T16:17:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/?p=2285"},"modified":"2017-10-22T09:17:40","modified_gmt":"2017-10-22T16:17:40","slug":"the-80s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/the-80s\/","title":{"rendered":"The 80s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is my Dad&#8217;s 80th birthday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2287\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad1967.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad1967.jpg 960w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad1967-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad1967-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m the smaller one in the picture.<\/p>\n<p>He was my first hero.\u00a0 At 5 years old I suspected that he may actually be Superman, because he wore glasses, just like Clark Kent.<\/p>\n<p>He did his fatherly duties as well as anyone could, maybe better sometimes.\u00a0 He&#8217;d take us out on weekend trips to the movies or the flea market or to a park.\u00a0 He took each of my siblings and I out for driving lessons.\u00a0 He takes care of his kids and grand kids as well as he can.<\/p>\n<p>I remember once asking if I could take up model rocketry as a new hobby.\u00a0 He said no.\u00a0 Later, at one of the time my brother was practicing driving\/parking in the parking lot at Candlestick Park, we watched some folks launching model rockets.\u00a0 Next thing I know Dad is taking me to Toys R Us to pick up an Estes Rockets X-15 starter set.\u00a0 Over time he built a home made launch pad for me, better than the plastic one that came with the starter kit.\u00a0 I built 6 or 7 kits and we probably launched a total of 5 rockets before I lost interest in it.\u00a0 At least 1 or 2 were lost to the winds of San Francisco.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s given us his unconditional love, as well as a few health scares along the way.\u00a0 At 50, I sometimes find it annoying how he still feels the need to make sure I have something for breakfast or dinner, even though I&#8217;ve been doing that for myself for over half my lifetime.\u00a0 But I get it.<\/p>\n<p>Still annoying, though.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2290\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad2015-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad2015-1.jpg 960w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad2015-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/dad2015-1-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Happy 80th birthday, Dad!\u00a0 I love you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is my Dad&#8217;s 80th birthday.
