was the second comic book super hero that I liked as a kid, after Superman.\u00a0 My first Spider-Man comic had a cover by John Romita and interior art by Ross Andru.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3187\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_1_146.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"585\" Origins of Marvel Comics, and that&#8217;s where I first saw Amazing Fantasy #15, the debut of Spider-Man, by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" to seeing, to be honest.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3188\" 207w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I was 11, my parents bought me a set of paperback books that reprinted the early days of Marvel Comics, with the first 6 issues of Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk, and the first 12 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s when I really fell in love with Ditko&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3184\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/asm3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"486\" height=\"738\" 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I think he&#8217;s why Doctor Octopus is my favorite Spider-Man villain.<\/p>\n<p>Ditko also created other favorites of mine, including Ted Kord&#8217;s Blue Beetle sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Squirrel Girl!<\/p>\n<p>All I really knew about the man was that he was a recluse, often compared to J.D. Salinger.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidentally, <em>The Catcher in the Rye<\/em> is my favorite book that I read in high school.<\/p>\n<p>Today news came out that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/heat-vision\/steve-ditko-dead-spider-man-creator-was-90-1125489\">Ditko had died late last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This loss hurts a lot because of his contributions to comics and to my personal development in my tastes in comic book fandom.<\/p>\n<p>Rest in Peace, Mr. Ditko.\u00a0 Thank you for all you did.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Spider-Man was the second comic book super hero that I liked as a kid, after Superman.\u00a0 My first Spider-Man comic had a cover by John Romita and interior art by Ross Andru.
