{"id":345,"date":"2017-01-17T16:49:15","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:49:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/?p=345"},"modified":"2017-01-17T16:49:15","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T00:49:15","slug":"jaxxon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/jaxxon\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaxxon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Around age 10-11, two things that my world revolved around were <em>Star Wars<\/em> and rabbits.<\/p>\n<p><em>Star Wars<\/em> is pretty much a given as how much it&#8217;s been a part of my life.<\/p>\n<p>But <em><strong>rabbits<\/strong><\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>I had a plush bunny rabbit as one of my first toys as a baby, and I held onto that bunny well into my pre-teen years. \u00a0He lead my cadre of other toys, including Action Jackson, the Six Million Dollar Man, and various other plushies.<\/p>\n<p>I have always been a big fan of Warner Bros. cartoons, especially Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.<\/p>\n<p>After the initial 6-issue run of Marvel&#8217;s original <em>Star Wars<\/em> comic, they started to tell new stories. \u00a0The first arc was about Han Solo and Chewbacca getting involved in a &#8216;Magnificent Seven&#8217;-esque confrontation on some planet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-347\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/star-wars-issue-8-marvel-comics-668x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/star-wars-issue-8-marvel-comics-668x1024.jpg 668w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/star-wars-issue-8-marvel-comics-196x300.jpg 196w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/star-wars-issue-8-marvel-comics-768x1177.jpg 768w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/star-wars-issue-8-marvel-comics.jpg 818w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the members of his gang, the Star-Hoppers of Aduba-3?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/starwars.wikia.com\/wiki\/Jaxxon\">Jaxxon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-346\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Jaxxon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Jaxxon.jpg 900w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Jaxxon-300x98.jpg 300w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/blogv4\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/Jaxxon-768x252.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Described as a 7-foot tall Lepi smuggler, Jaxxon became my first favorite character from <em>Star Wars<\/em> who was *not* in the original film.<\/p>\n<p>This means he beat out Boba Fett as my first favorite by about a year (comic released in November, 1977).<\/p>\n<p>As the link mentions, Jaxxon pretty much disappeared from the comics after issue #16, with reference to him in other media, but no appearances.<\/p>\n<p>Which is too bad, because the character has left a lasting impression on me and many other <em>Star Wars<\/em> fans. \u00a0Whether the impression is good or bad, is up to the individual fan.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Han Solo: &#8220;I saw that, rabbit\u2026&#8221;<br \/>\nJaxxon: &#8220;Well, hooray for your side! You must&#8217;a been eatin&#8217; your space-carrots\u2026never could stand &#8217;em myself! I&#8217;m\u2014&#8221;<br \/>\nHan Solo: &#8220;I heard: A meat-eater\u2026one that needs a job right?&#8221;<br \/>\nJaxxon: &#8220;Well I ain&#8217;t standin&#8217; out here for the decor.&#8221;<br \/>\n\u2015Jaxxon meets Han Solo<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Around age 10-11, two things that my world revolved around were Star Wars and rabbits.
