In 2015, Universal remastered the original Battlestar Galactica<\/em> series from 1978.<\/p>\n

Three years later, for the 40th anniversary, I finally picked up the Definitive Collection, which has both the 1978 series and\u00a0Galactica 1980<\/em>, along with the original theatrical release.<\/p>\n

The difference between the two editions is that the Definitive Collection has both series in widescreen and fullscreen, while the Remastered Collection only has the widescreen presentations.<\/p>\n

That’s why I waited until the price dropped considerably before picking up the Definitive Collection.<\/p>\n

I started watching the widescreen version, and while it looked spectacular, it looked weird because it was not filmed in that format.<\/p>\n

I then started watching the fullscreen version, and it still looks spectacular.<\/p>\n

Much like watching remastered Star Trek<\/em> and Star Trek: The Next Generation<\/em> episodes, the difference can really be seen in the space FX shots.<\/p>\n
