{"id":5372,"date":"2025-05-29T18:39:42","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T01:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/?p=5372"},"modified":"2025-05-29T18:42:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T01:42:25","slug":"extreme-hockey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/2025\/05\/extreme-hockey\/","title":{"rendered":"EXTREME HOCKEY?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5373\" src=\"http:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/xhl_blog_header.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/xhl_blog_header.jpg 800w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/xhl_blog_header-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/xhl_blog_header-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/saguisag.com\/d6s\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/xhl_blog_header-1x1.jpg 1w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of the latest offerings from PLAAY Games is their new <a href=\"https:\/\/plaay.com\/blog\/hockey-like-none-other-this-is-the-xhl\">XHL hockey league<\/a> for Hockey Blast.<\/p>\n<p>Described as &#8220;an alternate, summertime big-time professional hockey league&#8221;, the set comes with 20 teams, and as I have enough trouble trying to find time to play most sports games, I&#8217;ve decided to try this set with only 6 teams, representing the NHL&#8217;s Original Six.<\/p>\n<p>The 6 teams are from Chicago, Cleveland, Hartford, New York, Quebec, and Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>There were no teams from Boston or Detroit, so I picked the closest teams city-wise (Cleveland and Hartford)<\/p>\n<p>The have a list of suggested team names, with a classic\/heritage name and an alternate name.\u00a0 My initial thoughts for names for this XHL 6 league (from the suggestions):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chicago Bruisers<\/li>\n<li>Cleveland Barons<\/li>\n<li>Hartford Whalers (think I&#8217;d pick this city and not use their classic team name?)<\/li>\n<li>New York Gladiators<\/li>\n<li>Quebec Nordiques (same here)<\/li>\n<li>Toronto Shamrocks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are some alternate rules that can be added (2 point goals, option to pull the penalized team goalie during a major penalty) that I&#8217;ll probably end up trying.<\/p>\n<p>They also included 32 actual NHL players to add to the teams as free agents, which I may or may not do.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll try to get a game or two in soon, as soon as I work out a schedule for the league.<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the latest offerings from PLAAY Games is their new XHL hockey league for Hockey Blast.
