At some point I will use my camera again, instead of my phone, for these Project 365 photos.
That was supposed to be the whole point of this project.
I watched a video on how to use my new photo studio, and discovered that I placed the LED lights in the wrong spot.
I had them pointed into the studio, which leaves shadows.
They’re supposed to be on the sides, illuminating the white studio walls:
Shutter speed makes a difference, too, of course.
While trying out the new lens last night, I discovered a problem with the zoom lens.
It was making a whirring/clicking sound, and while it looked like it was focusing, it would not allow the camera shutter to work.
I couldn’t take any pictures with the zoom lens.
A quick Google search suggested that the issue was with some internal problem with the lens and that I should get it serviced.
And after checking on the Canon site I discovered that the lens was out of warranty and not serviceable.
Arrgh.
So at the moment I’m zoom-lens-less. I guess that means I’ll be using the macros more. Ah well.
It’s not like I was using the zoom most of the time anyways, only at ballgames and comic cons and occasionally trying to get a shot of the moon.
So I may or may not end up replacing the lens at some point in the future.
