Systems Recap

Remember when I said I was going to shelve Savage Worlds and focus on Dragonbane, Captain’s Log, and Dungeons & Dragons with the Mythic Game Master Emulator?

Well, 1 out of 3 was accomplished.

And while I still do plan on starting Dragonbane and Dungeons and Dragons, I’m re-adding Savage Worlds Adventure Edition to the mix, using Pulp Fantastic as the setting.

Along with The One Ring.

In the last month or so I’ve been delving into reaction videos for The Lord of the Rings, and *tried* to continue watching Rings of Power.  The latter never got done, and after reviewing the game system, I’m going to play The One Ring with Strider Mode, the solo system for TOR.

Pulling Back

I think I have too many proverbial irons in the fire.

So I’m reluctantly shelving Savage Worlds and Marvel Multiverse RPG for the time being.

Focus will be on Dragonbane, Captain’s Log, and Dungeons & Dragons with the Mythic Game Master Emulator.

I didn’t get too deep into Savage Worlds and Marvel, having learned most of the mechanics and character creation through YouTube videos.

For My Next Trick…

To ‘celebrate’ the release of the new Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook, I’m going to reroll my Solo RPG Barbarian, Raised By Minotaurs, using the new character creation rules.

And then I may actually continue his very short stint in soloing.  I think he got as far as the forest where a scouting party disappeared.

Moving Right Along

At glacial pace, we’re getting to the first scene/encounter in the currently untitled adventure featuring Raised By Minotaurs.

I pulled out a deck of Quest Deck cards from Kickstarter, a pack called ‘Notice Board’.  Since I had previously stated that RBM came into town to look for a job as a monster hunter, I figured he found a notice board to find work.

I drew 4 cards and picked one that I figured this character would choose.

So we’ll get to this encounter soon.

As an aside, I ended up describing this character as 6’8″, 250 lbs.

Looking around the web for a similar real person, I found that I had made a more muscular Harrison Barnes (also 6’8″) of the Sacramento Kings.

The Story Begins…

With some suggestions from Nelson, I’ve managed to start off on my first trek into the Mythic Game Master Emulator.

He first suggested rolling a die to determine what system to use, but I decided to start with the system that I’m most familiar with, D&D 5th Edition.

But what character should I use?

Nelson then suggested rolling a die for that choice, so I assigned a number to ten level 1 characters that I had created in D&D Beyond, and rolled a 3.

BEHOLD, YOUR NEW HERO!

Raised By Minotaurs, level 1 human Barbarian.

This one will be interesting to play from his description.

My initial adventure description rolls were “attain’ and ‘information’, so I’m gonna go with RBM entering town, looking for a job as a monster hunter.

More on this later.

Close But Indecisive

I’ve hit a snag as I’ve been finishing up reading the Mythic Game Master Emulator.

I can’t decide which system I want to run first.

I thought I had settled on either Dragonbane or Covert Ops, but I’m feeling the pull of something simple/familiar with 5th Edition D&D , Top Secret New World Order, and a couple of others.

I’ll get it all sorted out, eventually.
