To Be Continued?

So Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3 is setting up a new DCAU?

Which shouldn’t be a surprise, I suppose.

There was plenty for a long time DC fan like me to like.

PLENTY.

There was at least one jaw dropping cameo.

Overall I think it was a pretty good retelling, pulling stuff from previous DCAU projects as a basis for the key story points, which I should have guessed, to be honest.

R.I.P. to all the destroyed Earths, especially Earth-508 and Earth-12.

Looking forward to whatever comes next, in addition to whatever Lucasfilm Animation is supposedly working on.

Mays

Preseason, 1993, Giants Fan Fest (or what they held prior to Fan Fest):

They set up tables for autographs and I stood in a different line than my sibs.

After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, I left the line I was in and stood with my sisters in another line.

A few minutes later, the players started to come out and sit at the tables for autographs.  I can’t remember if we were in line for Darren Lewis or Royce Clayton.

The line that I had left?

Willie Mays started signing.

I was kicking myself (and continue to do so to this day) because I missed my chance to meet my Dad’s favorite player of all time, and possibly get a picture with him and an autograph for my Dad.

Later when I told my Dad what happened, he just kind of shrugged and said that it was okay.  But I was (and still am) upset with myself because even 31 years ago, Willie Mays was a big frickin’ deal to me.

He still is a big deal to me, even though I actually have no memory of seeing him play with the Giants.

Rest in Peace, Say Hey Kid.

The Fall Guy

I don’t think I’ve smiled so much during a movie is a long time.

It was just so fun to watch.

And I found myself singing along to most of the soundtrack.

There was a brief moment that brought me WAY back to my childhood, a sound, and that’s all I’ll say.

Stay for the credits scene.  That’s all I’ll say about that.  I may have been the only person in the theatre who clapped.

Highly recommended.  Go see it!

Unfrosted

Well, that was fun.

Silly, but fun.

It’s about cereal companies, of course I was gonna watch it.

The cast was great, the story was silly, and a couple of cameos were unexpected and funny.

I actually had a bowl of cereal after watching the movie.

It was entertaining.

Recommended.

The Bad Batch Finale – Spoilers Abound

I hate endings of stuff I enjoy watching.

Monarch, Ted Lasso, even recently, Shogun.

But when it’s something Star Wars related, like Ahsoka or Rebels, it hurts when it ends.

The Bad Batch was no exception.

For me, Omega grew as a character this past season.  I was less annoyed with her as I was in previous seasons.  Heck, I was happy to see where her journey seems to be headed, with that final scene.

I’m still upset that Tech is (still) dead, but relieved that he wasn’t revealed to be one of Hemlock’s shadow operatives.

Speaking of Hemlock, I didn’t know until I checked the cast credits that Hemlock was voiced by the guy (Jimmi Simpson) who played Logan Pierce in a couple of episodes of Person of Interest.

I was genuinely sad to see the end of Nala Se, but glad it caused the demise of Rampart and Hemlock’s database.

It was a nice touch to see Tarkin divert Project Necromancer’s funding to Project Stardust.

I’m also kicking myself for not remembering that (Mount) Tantiss was originally from Heir to the Empire.  It never occured to me to look that up when they first mentioned/showed the planet.

Overall, I thought it was good finale with a satisfying ending.  Clone Force 99 is still around at the time of the Rebellion, and that’s good enough for me.

Based On A True Story

I went in to this movie not knowing what true story this was based on, and I’m glad I did.

Based on the trailer, I just wanted to see Cavill and Ritchson in a period piece where they were killing Nazis.

Which we got.  Jack Reacher, Nazi Killer.

But when a certain character introduced himself VERY early in the movie, I kinda started to piece together what this was based on and who one of the main characters was going to be, or rather, the inspiration for another character in a similar genre.

This is definitely going into my list of go-to films when I need something playing in the background while doing other things.

Recommended, though not necessarily a must-see in a theatre.

Four Weeks Later

–  I’ve gotten somewhat into a routine on weekends, foregoing my usual Target run, and simply staying home and unwinding and doing laundry.

–  I dropped off a good number of books to a local bookstore in the mall, and finally got around to visiting the library that I live behind and getting a library card.

–  I’m beginning to dump stuff that I brought to the apartment from the house, finding that I grabbed some stuff that I really have no use for or haven’t used in years.

–  I need to go out walking more.

–  I also need to eat better.  I lost about 10 pounds from the stress of moving, but have gained back a few of those pounds.

The New Empire

This is a fun movie.  Definitely a popcorn flick, and nothing like Godzilla Minus One.

The Kong scenes were great, and what little *koff koff* we saw of Godzilla was awesome.

There were more kaiju in this movie than the trailer would lead you to believe.

The bad guy was pretty cool, and TBH I would have loved to see a cut of this film without the humans and no dialogue, just interaction between all the monsters.

My boys were fighting together by the end of the film, and that made me very happy.

Highly recommended if you’re a fan of Godzilla, Kong, the Legendary Monsterverse, or even that Monarch series on Apple TV+

Go see it!

There’s an app for that…

I just set up the laundry room app, Wash Connect, on my phone.

Instead of hoarding quarters to do laundry I use my phone to pay for it.

The app also tells me what’s available in the laundry room, and I think it can tell me when the cycle is done.

I wondered why the machines would be on and no one was in the laundry room when I walked by, now I know.

The future is here, man.
