Mega Construx Call of Duty

I noticed that I was using Call of Duty figures with desert uniforms for jungle ops, so I checked to see if there were any jungle figures available.

Jungle Rangers set

And then I checked to see if there were World War II figures for the Warfighter WWII game that’s coming in:

Classic Infantry Pack

They even have an authentic 48-star flag in that set.

Hobbies

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed by my chosen hobbies.

DC Universe Miniature Game
Ball Park Baseball, 1917 season
Warhammer 40K

And that’s just what I touched this weekend.

I also spent a few days following the livestream from Star Wars Celebration Orlando, got a haircut, went to a baseball game, watched the first episode of the new season of Doctor Who, attended a screening of Raiders of the Lost Ark with a live orchestra, Easter Brunch with family, and still feel that I didn’t get everything done that I wanted to this weekend.

For example, I didn’t get to play a game of Warfighter or Phantom Leader.  Or start watching a couple of shows on Netflix/Amazon Video.  Or read comics.  Or read in general.

Ah well.

I’m posting this trailer just because.  You folks who haven’t started watching this really should start, the last season begins this fall.

Deliveries update

The stuff not delivered on Monday, which said it was, arrived on Tuesday.

The stuff delivered today was due for delivery tomorrow (Thursday), except for the stuff that was due today, which did arrive today.

More stuff is scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday.

That is all.

Weekend Update

3-Day weekend review, by activities:

  • watched Power Rangers
  • played 2 baseball games
  • painted miniatures
  • watched NCAA Final Four games
  • 1st play of Warfighter
  • watching baseball on Opening Day

What to do now, as the Giants opener ends and the Warriors game is on in about an hour or so?

Warfighter: Mission 1

Location: South American Jungle
Mission: Covert
Objective: Eliminate Drug Cartel Boss
Squad: Staff Sgt. Giacomelli, SPC Corona

Result: failure

Deployed via helicopter, the pair made their way to the Wetlands, where they were immediately set upon by an ambush.  Corona managed to eliminate the the trio of ambushers, but Giacomelli had trouble dispatching a drug runner.  Thugs, lookouts, and more drug runners kept springing up, making progress to the objective a crawl. By the time all of the hostiles were dealt with, Giacomelli made it to the high ground, but time had run out and their quarry had escaped.

I made a few mistakes during play, like forgetting to check of hostile reinforcements, but I think I got the gist of the game play down.

I’ll be attempting this mission again, with a larger force.  Perhaps I’ll send in the British SAS instead of US Special Forces.

Warfighter Update

Still have not played a game, busy as I’ve been with other stuff. *cough*Batman Miniatures Game*cough*

I did, however, purchase Tabletop Simulator and the downloadable content for Warfighter, which gives you the entire game PLUS all the expansions.  All for much lower than the physical expansions would cost.

But that didn’t stop me from getting a couple more physical expansions for my original game, namely the Support  and Eastern European Adversaries sets, and the Foot Locker.

UAVs and stuff
Gotta have my SAS boys stay close to home, ya?
Should be more than enough storage space, seeing that I’m not picking up all of the expansions, which this is designed for.

It was this video that sold me on the Foot Locker:

Well, this video and me discovering how shallow the current Warfighter box is.  As it stands now, the box will not close all the way.

Plans for my first game are still to take a squad into the South American jungles to find a drug cartel leader.

Warfighter: Call of Duty Figures?

The Warfighter game originally came with a set of 6 smallish miniatures.  They’ve since stopped packing those in the boxes.

While many players on the Board Game Geek forums say that the figures really aren’t needed, others have suggested using Mega Bloks’ Call of Duty figures, to add a bit of flair to the game..

I spotted a couple of smaller sets at Fry’s Electronics earlier today, with 3-4 figures in them.  I then went to Toys R Us to see what I could find.

Behold!

Special Ops Task Force set – 16 little guys!

Solitaire Wargaming Organization Revisited

I think I’m going to shift around that list I made, with the print-and-play games at the bottom of the list.

  1. Phantom Leader
  2. Warfighter
  3. Hornet Leader
  4. Gato Leader
  5. Corsair Leader
  6. Philippines Ablaze
  7. Carrier Strike Force

I’m gonna revisit Phantom Leader right away, since I screwed the pooch in the game play of that AAA Site mission.

Evade.  Must remember to have pilots evade.

Warfighter will be next, to break up the 2 aircraft games back-to-back, as I had originally listed.

And all this will be broken up with with table top sports and skirmish games.

Overload

I received so many items for so many different games yesterday, and stupidly tried to go through all of them last night.

Big mistake.

I couldn’t focus on one thing or another, in addition to attempting to play the second mission of the Phantom Leader campaign that I started.  It was a total failure, all planes shot down, but only because I forgot to employ a couple of rules, like pilot EVADE.  Whoops.

I guess I’ll rerun the mission sometime soon.

I sorted the cards and punched the counters for Warfighter.  I skimmed the rules.

I attempted to figure out how to run a fight in the Batman Miniatures Game.  I also found a box to store all the miscellaneous markers and templates for the game.

I opened up the Starfire Gorm-Khanate War expansion.  I almost punched the counters.

I assembled and primed the miniatures that I got from Crossover Miniatures, including the one I’m using for The Koala in Mutants and Masterminds.

Meanwhile, I was watching the Warriors/Thunder game, Supergirl and 24: Legacy.  Good to see Oded Fehr back on TV.

There’s simply not enough time in a day to do everything that I’d like to do.

As a side note, this morning I ordered a few counter trays for all the wargames that I’ve picked up in the last couple of weeks.  Odd that you’d have to pay extra for counter trays, they used to come with the games, back in the day.

And Knight Models got back to me regarding the Superman miniature defect, they’ll be sending me a replacement part in a couple of weeks, so I’ll just put off assembly until then.  Yay!

All this with baseball approaching.

See why I can’t podcast?
