Dear House

I wanted to say thank you for sheltering me and the rest of my siblings and my parents for almost 60 years.

There are times I know that I took you for granted, and other times that I was glad you were there for me to come home to.

I’m sorry that we failed to keep up with your issues, but I’ve found that many houses that are as old are also not in the best shape either.  Just know that we tried our best.

You’ll not be forgotten, as many friends and family have expressed how they have good memories of you.  I’m not going to list any because that would take forever, and I don’t want to start crying as I make a list.

I’ve said recently that you stopped feeling like my home some time ago.  This is not through any fault of yours, it’s just a feeling that I’ve had as I’ve gotten older.

I don’t know how I’ll feel as I move on into apartment life, I just know that I’ll probably never live in San Francisco ever again.

You were my first home.  I’ll never forget that.  You’ll probably be my first and only house that I’ve lived in and I sure as hell won’t forget that either.

Maybe your next owner will take much better care of you.  but I doubt they’ll have the same kind of memories that I have of you.

Maybe it’ll be good for you to get renovated, so you can go on to shelter others as you did my family.

Whatever the future brings, I’ll always have my memories of you.

Again, thanks.

Change

Something that everyone is frightened of, to some degree.

I’m moving to an apartment.

This is the single biggest change for me, having spent my infancy/childhood/teen/young adult/adult/etc. years in the same house, for my entire life up to now.

It’s a bit scary, yes, but I think I have most of it under some control, at this point.

I have to downsize my stuff, which at first sounded like a lot (it is) but it’s more manageable once I started moving stuff to my offsite storage unit.

Over the course of the next few months or so I’m planning to offload most everything that I’m putting in storage.

Which means donating/trashing or gifting to people.

Which means I might be asking for people’s addresses and shipping off random boxes of stuff out.

Kinda like Loot Crate, I suppose.

I did this maybe 10-15 years ago, and I’m sure some of the stuff I sent off ended up in the trash anyways.

But hey, some of the stuff I need to get rid of may be of some use to someone.

I may start a new blog as a result of all of this, too.

I guess we’ll see.

Hullo?

Oh, hey, a blog entry.

The year’s been relatively the same as the previous year, just stuff happening.

Big thing that I’ve been doing is 3D printing another (updated) Transport Delta.

One thing that I’ve noticed is a shortage of Zero Sugar Pepsi.  Maybe I’m imagining it, but I can’t seem to find 20oz bottles of it anywhere.

Is it baseball season yet?

I seem to have lost my tabletop games mojo, even though I want to play stuff, I get stuck in indecisive mode, trying to decide what to play.

New Year Eve 2023

The Story So Far:

  •  woke up and watched Spurs beat Bournemouth.
  • weekly Target run, groceries and a Spider-Mobile and a LEGO Space set.
  • finished watching Space Battleship Yamato (2010) with Chloe, I must not have been paying attention when I first watched it, a lot was different from what I recall.
  • watched the 49ers clinch the #1 seed in the NFC.
  • watched some reaction videos for various stuff.
  • watching a 3+ day 3D print job continue on it’s way.

As with last week, I’m trying to figure out what to do now, with tabletop sports and starting the solo RPG being the top contenders.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, ONE AND ALL!

Christmas Eve 2023

The Story So Far:

  • woke up and watched the Die Hard/Christmas episode of What If…? Season 2, and I liked it.
  • weekly trip to Target, grabbed some groceries, mostly.
  • against my better judgement, picked up McDonalds for breakfast.
  • watched some reaction videos to various things (What If…?, The Clone Wars, Dr. Strange 2).
  • watched some other stuff (Star Trek documentaries, Raiders of the Lost Ark).
  • set up 3D printers to print some stuff.
  • now trying to decide what to do next.

I’m leaning toward some tabletop gaming, either sports or maybe finally trying to start the Mythic Game Master Emulator test run.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL Y’ALL!

Watched Stuff

Barbie: good movie.

Reacher, Season 2, episodes 1-3: still a great show, love the cast additions.

Joy Ride: a lot better than I expected, with some surprises in the cast.

THEY FITE CRIME

I think I was around 5 years old when I first saw King Kong (1933 version) and then watched King Kong vs. Godzilla, and I was and still am a huge Kong fan.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m also a HUGE Godzilla fan, but Kong’s always been my boy.

So I guess this movie is something that I never knew I wanted since childhood.  A team-up with my two favorite movie monsters.

I can’t wait.

G Minus One

Best Godzilla film.

They did it, they made one of these that makes you care about the PEOPLE.

It was freaking fantastic, the story was very heart wrenching at times, and the Godzilla parts were actually scary.

I was thrown by [redacted] and didn’t expect to cry during this movie.

It’s only out for a week here in the US, so if you wanna see it, make plans soon.

Two thumbs up!

Go see it!
