Loki Season 2

This is the only MCU Disney+ show that has a second season (so far) and deservedly so.

While I did feel that the first couple of episodes meandered a bit, the last two gave us a solid resolution to the story IMHO.

I know that won’t be how everyone who watched this sees it, though.

Overall, it was better than Secret Invasion, which isn’t saying much.

Expectations: NFL 2023

My expectations are simple:

I fully expect the 49ers to win the Super Bowl this year.

I hope the Broncos finish above .500 this year.

We’ll see how it goes.

Finale: Strange New Worlds, Season 2

Helluva cliffhanger, almost as good as “Mr. Worf… fire.”

Now, since the Gorn are more prominent on this show than they were in The Original Series/TOS/Those Old Scientists, would it be too much to think that we’re gonna see the Metrons in place of the Organians in next season’s Season 3 premiere, where they put a stop to hostilities, but not before having Pike fight the Gorn Captain?

Because you sure as hell can’t tell me this takes place in the TOS/Prime timeline if Starfleet is about to go to war with the Gorn, years before the Cestus III incident.

Also, yay, it’s Scotty!

Looking forward to next season.

Anything Goes

So that was a thing.

Can’t say I loved it, but it was a lesser episode compared to the previous two week’s offerings.

Personally I think “Once More, With Feeling” and “Duet” were better musical episodes in their respective series.  And like those two episodes, “Subspace Rhapsody” was a character-centric piece.  Character story arcs were moved along, relationships developed and in one case, ending?

I do like that they are still trying to connect the dots with The Original Series and even the TOS films with the mentioning of a couple of characters who are quite important for the characters associated with them.

And the song that Spock/Ethan Peck sang?  Hell, that could have been me describing my past relationships.

I eagerly await the soundtrack.

Also, I nominate Christina Chong as title sequence singer for the next Bond film, based on her performance not in this episode, but from this music video that she has released.

And now I wanna see Bruce Horak leading a Klingon Boy Band.  K-Pop takes on a new meaning, eh?

Give it a shot.

Recommended!

Sci-Fi in the 90s

It was weird, to say the least.

I got my pledge rewards from the Cyberpunk Red Combat Zone campaign yesterday, so of course it made me want to watch something related, so I ended up watching 1995’s Johnny Mnemonic, which I don’t believe I’ve watched since seeing it in the theatre, 28 years ago.

Hooboy, what a stinker of a film that was.  I had forgotten who all else was in it besides Keanu Reeves.  Ice-T?  Dina Meyer?  Henry Rollins?  Dolph Lundgren?

Yeah.

Now I’m watching Starship Troopers, admittedly  one of my guilty pleasure go-to movies, but yeah, this one isn’t that great either, truth be told.

Maybe I should follow this one up with Mars Attacks or Independence Day.

Secret Invasion

I didn’t hate it.  There was a good story in there.  The execution and writing were just pretty poor.

For every good moment there were a couple of bad ones.  And there were a lot of bad moments.

Overall I feel that this was one of the weaker Disney+ shows.

And I’ll just leave it at that.
