Damn

So much for posting everyday this year.  Though I could back date a post.  But I wont.

Alas.

Thoughts

“Never give up.  Never surrender.”

I am still me.  You are still you.  Don’t ever stop being you.  I will not stop being me.

“Never cruel or cowardly. Never give up, never give in.”

Today is not the end of the world.  Not while we still have each other’s backs.

“Don’t give in to hate.”

Social media got us into this.  Social media will keep things in check.

“Rebellions are built on hope.”

I gave a speech during my 8th grade graduation.  Standing there in my powder blue(!) suit, I gave a message of hope, as an eighth grader could.  I’m guessing not many people paid attention, but as I did then in 1981, I believe that we’ll get through whatever waits for us, together.

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”

Video

I removed the video (which you may or may not had seen) from the header portion of this blog because while it was cool to see, it served no real purpose.

That is all. Carry on.

#moredailyfiller #muhuhahaha

I’ll admit…

Wednesday’s post was a last minute filler, because I actually do want to post something everyday on this blog, in 2017.

As is this one.  But not last minute.

HA!

Cranky

I shouldn’t be, but I am.

People in California really do forget how to drive when it rains.  And they have less patience.

  • Stopped at an incline with school crossing guard and oncoming cross-traffic, and due to kids crossing and a lot of cars, I’m not moving.  Dickhead behind me, who probably cannot see, honks while kids are in the intersection, crossing, and while cars are passing in front of me.
  • A driver attempts to change lanes and cut me off, even though there’s not enough space to do so between me and the car in front of me, so he stays in his lane.  A block farther, he’s straddling lanes, blocking both cars behind him.
  • Slow moving car ahead of me in the left turn lane, decides it wants to go straight at the intersection instead of turn.

The good news is that I disabled the cache plug-in that appeared to be messing up my blog, and it appears to be fixed.  Woohoo.

Reposts

I had to have this blog restored from backup this weekend, and I lost about a week of posts, starting with January 1st.

I hope this is the last time I have to do this, as there appears to be some sort of caching issue with this blog.  The more I tried to fix it, the worse it got, so I decided to just let it sit and hopefully fix itself.

If that doesn’t work, I’ll deal with it.

It’s just odd that this doesn’t happen to my sports games blog.

Repost: Podcasting

It’ll happen. Soon. Maybe. I had a taste of it Friday night.

My friend Michelle invited me to Digital Nerdage podcast’s Best of 2016 recap show. I had thought that I’d be a ‘call-in’ guest (long time listener, first time caller), answering a question or have a take on something, much like a sportstalk radio show, but as the show started, I was introduced as a new friend of the show by the host, Pat.

We covered a few topics that I could see myself talking about on my own podcast, when/if that ever gets off the ground. All told I think we were talking for a little over 90 minutes, which will probably edited down to 60 minutes or so.

My concern right now is whether or not I have the technical side of this nailed down. I have some research to do in that respect. Luckily Kindle Unlimited has a few freebies that I downloaded to read up on podcasting.

I’ll post a link as soon as the podcast gets posted.

In the meantime, I’ll be going about my usual blogging here, with the goal of posting every day in 2017.

Repost: Friday Randomness

This is the longest I’ve gone without a calendar hanging up in my office, or at home. That’s what I get for ordering them online, instead of picking them up from the calendar shop at the mall.

* * *

Still trying to figure out what to do with the microphones.

Yes, plural.

Podcasting is the leading choice, I just have to figure out what the content will be. It would probably be something monthly, as I don’t think I’d have time to do a weekly thing.

Or I can just use them to talk to people online.

At lunch I thought about how often and for whom I would post another of those “The 50s” entries like the one from yesterday. First of I want to say that you shouldn’t feel offended/insulted if I don’t have enough material to write something on your 50th. I may simply had forgotten, or hadn’t had time to come up with something interesting. That’s on me, not you.

Vlogging.

Never did keep up with that. I should, in case I never get the podcast thing off the ground.

* * *

Not sure why I’m so jazzed about wanting to play role-playing games again, as in pencil-and-paper, face-to-face, not online.

6 days into the new year, and no table top sports games played. I need to fix that. Soon. Tonight.

I also need to get off my butt and start up the lunchtime D&D campaign again. It’s ONLY been a YEAR since I was supposed to come up with something. Ah well.

And then there’s my camera and photography. I bought a new lens to experiment with static close up shots of stuff, and I haven’t really done anything in regards to that.

Gotta change that.

For the first time in years, neither football team that I follow are in the playoffs.

My weekends are free and clear. Though I’ll probably end up watching the Super Bowl.

Pizza and cupcakes. Those are my only requirements so far for my birthday.

Oddly enough…

As I was going through files from the backup archives for PDGBlog/Serenity (2005-2010) and Blog V3/Making This Up As I Go (2010-2016), the one big difference I saw was the lower number of images used in the older blog than the newer one.

The older blog was about story telling with words, the newer with pictures.

Part of that is because I had just gotten into photography near the end of the older blog, so that was where a lot of my photos were showcased.  I don’t think I’ll be reposting anything from the past, especially pictures.

I hope express myself more with words than images this time around, as I think I’ll be more talkative here than I had been in recent years.

We’ll see how this all goes, together.
