Troopers & Special Ops

I like collecting.

I like collecting Stormtroopers, mainly variants.  Snowtroopers rule.

I like special ops, like the British SAS, the Navy’s Seal Team 6, and Delta Force.

Recently Lucasfilm has announced a new book coming out called Inferno Squad, which is supposed to be the Empire’s elite infiltration squad, formed after the events in Rogue One, tasked to eliminate the remaining members of Saw Guerra’s rebels.

During today’s Battlefront II panel they revealed Inferno Squad as playable characters in the game.  The squad witnessed the destruction of the second Death Star above the forest moon of Endor.

And then the Hasbro panel revealed this GameStop exclusive:

Black Series 6″ Battlefront II Inferno Squadron Agent Figure

A SpecOps trooper figure.

He looks awesome.

I preordered one immediately.

Deliveries

I knew that I was getting a bunch of deliveries on Monday, so I kept track of them online and in a text file on my work PC.

According to USPS.gov, everything was delivered.

When I went to retrieve my packages, 2 were not in our mail room.

I double checked online, and both were listed as delivered.

I checked the mail room this morning and they were still not there.

I suspect that they’re somewhere in another agency’s mail room, and they haven’t sent them over to ours yet.

So now we wait.

*grumble*

Weekend Update

3-Day weekend review, by activities:

  • watched Power Rangers
  • played 2 baseball games
  • painted miniatures
  • watched NCAA Final Four games
  • 1st play of Warfighter
  • watching baseball on Opening Day

What to do now, as the Giants opener ends and the Warriors game is on in about an hour or so?

Fantastic Beasts

I watched it this morning and really liked it.  I kinda regret not seeing it on the big screen.

I grew bored with the Harry Potter movie franchise after Goblet of Fire.  I’m not sure why, exactly, and splitting the last book into two movies didn’t help to change how I felt.  I don’t think I saw the last 3-4 in the theatre.

Even though the movie takes place in the same universe as Harry Potter, the change in time period helped it become more appealing to me.

Aside from the cast, who I either loved or didn’t know they were in it (Ezra Miller!  Jon Voight!) my favorite part of the movie were, of course, the beasts.

I went and ordered this:

Niffler POP! Vinyl figure *squeee*

And this as well:

Newt Scamander’s wand

I’ve never wanted a prop wand from any of the characters in the Harry Potter movies (though I did almost pick up Snape’s a while back), but for some reason, I wanted this one.

Overall, I thought it  was an entertaining movie, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.  I just hope I don’t grow tired of them as I did with the original Potter films.

Sunday

It rained.  And hailed.  And rained.  And hailed.

All the while I ran a few errands.

No one seems to like Peeps Oreos.  They’re not bad.

I also got a bag of black jelly beans, which only I and my niece Chloe seem to like.

And I found this guy:

Jakks Pacific Big Figs 20″ Classic Superman

I’m tempted to pick up Batman and the rest of the original Superfriends, if they become available.

Weekend Goals?

Did:

Played some table top baseball.

Painted Blood Bowl lizardman miniatures.

Built LEGO van/caravan set.

Replaced Keurig machine with larger capacity Keurig machine.

Didn’t:

Work on Lunchtime D&D campaign.

Do a dry run of a podcast, unless you count the 1-hour phone conversation that I had with my mystery co-host.

Start watching The Man in the High Castle, Season 2.

Star Wars Post

At Toys R Us, I inadvertently got a free Star Wars Rebels poster with a qualifying purchase over $20.

Cashier: Would you like the free Star Wars poster?
Me: … yes, please.

At Gator Games, I was checking out the new Star Wars Destiny dice game, and while checking online what would be needed to start getting into the game, I realized that I didn’t need yet ANOTHER Star Wars game from Fantasy Flight Games that I would not be playing.

So instead of picking up a couple of starter packs, I picked up the Alliance Smuggler miniature playing piece for Imperial Assault.  I’m designating that figure as my character in-game, based on my Star Wars The Old Republic character, Jayke Skykiller.

***

At home I pulled out the Imperial Assault game, and simple rummaged through the figures while adding the Alliance Smuggler mini and cards to the game.  I may pick up Princess Leia and Lando Calrissian, just to have the Original Trilogy heroes in the game.

I then pulled out the X-Wing Miniatures Game, along with a couple of larger ship minis that i had picked up almost a year ago.  After trying to fit everything (ships, cards, tokens, etc.) into the two core boxes that I had picked up, I finally opened the third core set (The Force Awakens edition) that I picked up on clearance from Target and was able to fit everything over the three boxes.

After the AFC playoff game, I started up this week’s episode of Star Wars Rebels. Quite a surprise (or not?) to see yet another Ralph McQuarrie design make it onto the show, this time a ‘protocol’ droid that looked a lot like the early concept art for C-3PO.

Repost: Friday Randomness

This is the longest I’ve gone without a calendar hanging up in my office, or at home. That’s what I get for ordering them online, instead of picking them up from the calendar shop at the mall.

Still trying to figure out what to do with the microphones.

Yes, plural.

Podcasting is the leading choice, I just have to figure out what the content will be. It would probably be something monthly, as I don’t think I’d have time to do a weekly thing.

Or I can just use them to talk to people online.

* * *

At lunch I thought about how often and for whom I would post another of those “The 50s” entries like the one from yesterday. First of I want to say that you shouldn’t feel offended/insulted if I don’t have enough material to write something on your 50th. I may simply had forgotten, or hadn’t had time to come up with something interesting. That’s on me, not you.

* * *

Vlogging.

Never did keep up with that. I should, in case I never get the podcast thing off the ground.

* * *

Not sure why I’m so jazzed about wanting to play role-playing games again, as in pencil-and-paper, face-to-face, not online.

* * *

6 days into the new year, and no table top sports games played. I need to fix that. Soon. Tonight.

I also need to get off my butt and start up the lunchtime D&D campaign again. It’s ONLY been a YEAR since I was supposed to come up with something. Ah well.

* * *

And then there’s my camera and photography. I bought a new lens to experiment with static close up shots of stuff, and I haven’t really done anything in regards to that.

Gotta change that.

* * *

For the first time in years, neither football team that I follow are in the playoffs.

My weekends are free and clear. Though I’ll probably end up watching the Super Bowl.

* * *

Pizza and cupcakes. Those are my only requirements so far for my birthday.

Who Knew

I saw this hanging on pegs for weeks since Force Friday, back in September.

I thought nothing of this vehicle.

“A cargo shuttle?  How important could THAT be?”

That was my thinking, until I saw the movie.  Until it turned out to be [REDACTED].

I can’t find it in any nearby stores, so I had to order one from HasbroToyShop.com online.  Amazon was selling it for almost 3 times the list price.

I also ordered a U-Wing, which I kept picking up and putting back on the shelf/peg whenever I saw it at a store.
