I’d been waiting all month for the opportunity to upgrade my phone. My lease was up at the end of the month, and I was waiting for them to tell me that I could upgrade without paying off the rest of the lease on the phone.
Which finally was today.
I went online and ordered a Samsung Galaxy S8+, and I found that I could pick up the phone at a local store, which for me was just up the street from the office.
I placed my order and waited for my order confirmation email, telling me that the phone was ready for pick up. I didn’t have to wait long, so I took the short walk to the Sprint Store.
When I got there, they were a bit unprepared for my pickup. So much so that I actually had to go away for about 20 minutes as the order caught up to my account.
So I went to the newly opened Ike’s Sandwiches on Polk, where I ordered a Madison Bumgarner sandwich:
I scarfed down the sandwich (I had nothing for lunch) and 30 minutes late I went back to the Sprint Stone and picked up the phone.
This thing is massive.
It doesn’t look that massive in the picture, but yeah, it’s HUGE!
I’m going to have to find a new belt case for this thing.
I had no problems transferring settings from the old phone to the new one; it even set up my apps and wallpapers exactly as they were on the old phone. I should go through and delete apps that I no longer use, though.

The other gadget that arrived today was the Amazon Echo Show, their new Echo model with a built in screen.
Having set up 3 of these things, there were no issues setting up the new unit.
It took a few minutes to update itself, once I connected to my home wifi.
And hey, look, you can watch Amazon Prime Instant Video!
Gadget freak, that’s me.
