At the last moment I changed my mind again and decided to pledge for my name on an aircraft card in Corsair Leader.
I posted a question to Facebook, asking what would be a good callsign for a World War II F4F Wildcat pilot.
There were a few good suggestions, but I wanted to have some connection to my own Filipino heritage, so when someone suggested ‘Bailout’, I came up with… ‘Balut’.

So happy that this game got funded, and that the backers were able to knock down some great, nay, awesome stretch goals at the end, including this one:
I was one of a bunch of folks who requested this particular stretch goal.
The last stretch goal (for $105K) gave us P-40 Warhawks to use in the game. Which of course remind me of John Belushi in the movie 1941.
Looking forward to receiving this game in July.
“Sayonara, sucker!”
I played the first week of my first game of Tiger Leader.
I think I’ve got most of the game mechanics down.
It’s the 1939 Poland campaign, and my forces annihilated a Polish battalion.
Which is all fine and dandy, but now I have 2 more weeks to defeat way more battalions in order to finish with an acceptable victory point total. A minimum of 13 VPs gets me a ‘good’ result.
I currently have 2 VPs. Because I sent all my forces against one stinking battalion in the first week of this 3-week campaign.
I’ll be spreading my forces thin during the last two weeks of this campaign.
I also forgot to add 5 to the move rolls for the Polish.
We learn by doing.
Gato Leader has been played!
Dismal result, I chalk it up to learning the game. Though I did manage to sink the Yamato.
Corsair Leader is going to Kickstarter this week, so that may stay on the list a bit longer.
And with Sherman Leader arriving tomorrow, this list is still as long as it has been since November.
Actually, it’s longer, with Gloomhaven, Dinosaur Island, and a couple of Legendary deck building games (Firefly and Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
I think I’ll be playing some sports games in the near future. A year ago I meant to replay the 2010 World Series, which I didn’t.
Last year I bought the print-and-play version of this game. I printed it, but never got around to actually cutting out the parts to play it.
Next week, Dan Verssen Games is starting a new Kickstarter for a printed version of the game, updated and improved from the print-and-play version.
This may be one of the few Kickstarters that I do this year, since I’ve cut back considerably on my KS pledging.
This is one of those games that I rarely played because it didn’t have a solo player option. There have been homebrew instructions for it, but I never got around to trying them.
Recently Fantasy Flight Games released a mobile app for this game that allows for 1-4 players to run a campaign. I downloaded it and finally got a chance to play with it.
I played the tutorial, and learned that I needed a refresher in the basic rules.
We’ll see how often I get around to this game.
Maybe they’ll add porgs.

You’d think I would have played more of the solo wargames, but I haven’t. I suppose it’s the “learning how to play” thing that’s stopping me.
Though in a few cases (#s 3-5) it’s because theyre print ‘n play games, and I have yet to cut out and assemble all the pieces for any of those games.
I hope to cut this list in half over the next 6 months.
Dunkin’ Donut run in the morning. I have yet to invoke my AARP card ‘free donut with large coffee’ thing.
Started watching the Broncos-Eagles game, but decided to go out and run errands instead.
Didn’t pick up anything from Barnes & Noble.
Picked up some grey paint from Gator Games.
Didn’t pick up anything from Toys R Us.
Didn’t pick up anything from Tanforan Shopping Center.
I stopped by McDonalds because I wanted a milkshake. I ordered a Mighty Kids meal, and when I asked for a chocolate shake, the cashier said that they were out of shakes. What?
I stopped by Best Buy to support my niece and her Girl Scout troop, who were selling chocolate and nuts in front of the store. I went inside to find an ATM, and ended up picking up Call of Duty WWII.
I went home and used my new paint to finally start painting up my Militarum Tempestus Scions again. I also watched the end of the 49ers game.
And now I’m watching Marvel films on TV.
