Grid Iron Wars

I ordered the Fast Action System and Advanced Game for Grid Iron Wars, along with the other two AAFC seasons available (1948, 1949), and Downey Games threw in the 1969 AFL season as an extra.  Cool!

I wonder if it’s because this year is the first time the Kansas City Chiefs have been in the Super Bowl since then, 50 years ago?

Of course now I should get the 1969 NFL season so I can replay Super Bowl IV.  Then again, I didn’t get the 1967 NFL season when I got the 1967 AFL season.

Stay tuned!

Racing

I should just start every racing series that I have planned.

Or not.

I don’t think there’s enough room in the game box for all the card sets.

Plus I would need to print out more scoring sheets.

And then I’d burn myself out on racing, like I did with baseball.

And then I’d go back to baseball.  Or start football and soccer again.

Ah well.  Maybe I’ll just play Terraforming Mars or Leaving Earth.

Stay tuned!

Soccer: EPL 1985-86

I have a bad habit of picking up games and/or season sets for games and never playing with them.

That said, PLAAY Games has announced the upcoming release of the English Pro League 1985-86 season set.  I don’t think I have any soccer sets from the 1980s.

I probably will not know a single player in that set.  At least with the 1977 North American Soccer League set I knew… one guy, and that was Pelé.

And it’s been a while since I actually sat down and played a game of Soccer Blast.

All this means is that I’ll probably end up ordering the set and sitting on it indefinitely.

Ah well.

Racing News: 2016 SCRAM Series

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CS MOTORSPORTS SIGNS DRIVER MARLON MARAVE

CS Motorsports has announced the formation of a new SCRAM racing team, to participate in races as soon as possible.

The CS Motorsports  #23 Honda Accord, currently unsponsored, will be driven by newcomer Marlon Marave, a native of the Philippines.

The image above was generated from the This Person Does Not Exist website.  I took the name from two real Filipino race car drivers, Marlon Stockinger and Pepon Marave.

His card:

Hopefully I’ll get to run a race with him later this week.

Racing: Next

Once the 3 current series are finished, the next 3 series that will be run are as follows:

I had found that I set up Google sheets for the Pioneers Series, which is based on the Pioneers of Racing set from PLAAY Games, and consists of drivers from the 1950s. The racing venues include dirt tracks and short tracks from the era of moonshiners.

I also found that I had set up a schedule for the return of the Starbucks Cup Series, with twice as many races, with a whole slew of new drivers, and the removal of others. That may be run when I get to the 2019 SCRAM season, since I have the 2018 SCRAM and SCRAM-B series set to be run alongside the 1999 Winston Cup series.

Stay tuned!
