Wrestling Returns

It’s been about 6 years since we last heard from the FFWF (Facebook Friends Wrestling Federation), there was even an upgrade to the Face to the Mat game that promised more wrestling action, but the game sat unplayed under a pile of uncut cards for other games.

Since I’ve moved, that game has been rediscovered, and a return to wrestling is imminent, but I’m switching to PLAAY.com’s fictional wrestling card sets.

The real reason I didn’t play for all that time was that two of the wrestlers were Facebook friends who had passed away (the wrestler cards were retired), and then the Facebook friend who was going to take over as emcee had also passed away.

So I’m starting fresh with some existing card sets, the 70s and 80s Wrestling America Federation sets.

I may revisit the FFWL at some point in the future.

1977: Giants Replay, Game 3 Revised

I’m going to start using Digital Diamond’s Boardgame Companion to track some of my replays i.e. ones that I’ve barely started.

1921 and 1971 will continue under BallScore, while the smaller replays (Gooden ’85 and D’Acquisto ’74) will be played with DDB, along with 1977 and 1979.

I’ve already converted the few played games for 1977 and 1979, like so:

Final from Dodger Stadium:

It’s formatted more like a newspaper boxscore, which I like.

1971: Giants Replay, Game 90

Last game before the All-Star Break.

Final from Dodger Stadium:

Rookie Bernie Williams pinch hits a game winning grand slam in the top of the 12th.

The Giants go into the All-Star break with a 56-34 record one win better than they were in real life.

After the All-Star break, the Giants go to Cincinnati for a series against the Reds.

Stay tuned!

2013: Stock Car Racing America, Race 4

Whoa, two sports game plays in as many days?

March 24th, 2013: the Sun Coast Capital 400 @ Sun King Speedway.

Race Results

Alex Hodge wins his first race of the season.

Current standings:

Ray Bob Walker jumps to the top of the points standings after Mark Forth and Wayne Montana finish poorly in the race.

Next: the California Raisin 250 @ Ocean Pacific International.

1985: Dwight Gooden Replay, Game 1

As I said in the previous post, I have tried to start this shorter replay using BallScore, but it never calculated games correctly, so I decided to try Digital Diamond’s Boardgame Companion, and it worked pretty well.

The game gave me a running play-by-play commentary, which was nice.  I had a few moments of having to look stuff up, specifically how to enter plays into the game and relearning Inside Pitch Baseball.

I also had to figure out how to replace pitchers after pinch hitting for them, and after the game I corrected the team names and logos.

I’ll probably run this replay with this program, and my other existing replays using BallScore.

The boxscores come out about the same as in BallScore.

The result was the same for Gooden (no decision) but Jack Clark changed the outcome with a 2-run blast in the 11th inning.
