Addendum

I picked up a couple more items from the PLAAY.com Holiday sale:

  • Fury Football (concept game)
  • Tropical Tour courses for History Maker Golf
  • 1980 Pro Season for Bowl-O-Rama

I’ve played exactly one game of Bowl-O-Rama.  It’s fun, I just don’t pull it off the shelf when I have other replays to run.  Maybe an actual season, with a schedule, will get me to play this one more.

I should set up a golf tournament tour, maybe 10 courses?

Fury Football was developed around the same time as the game that became GridZone, as a quicker play football simulation.  It’s designed to be a quick play ‘concept game’, much like 1890s Fight Club from last year.

Seasonal Additions

Thanks to PLAAY.com’s Holiday sale, the following will be added to my long list of unplayed sports seasons:

  • MLB 1999 post-season for History Maker Baseball
  • NHL 1957-58 season for Hockey Blast
  • SCRAM-B 2018 season for Red White & Blue Racing
  • EPL 2017-18 season for Soccer Blast

I’m guessing that I’ll play 1999 or SCRAM-B first.

1979: College Station

June 3rd, 1979: Texas 400

Race results and current standings:

Your race winner, in real life and in this replay, Darrel Waltrip!

Despite starting 4th, Waltrip had an early race incident which sent him to the back of the field.  This was a hard fought win, as he charged through the pack to lead the final 5 laps for the victory.

Next: the NAPA Riverside 400 @ Riverside International Raceway.

Biscuit in the Basket, or From Way Downtown… BANG

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but I’m going to try my best to FINALLY play a hockey or basketball game by the end of the month.

I should try to start the 1966-67 replay in either sport, either the Toronto Maple Leafs or San Francisco Warriors season replays.

PLAAY.com just updated Hockey Blast to version 5.0, and I’m interested in their All-Time Franchise Great Teams #2 set, which has the Sharks.

And the temptation to build yet another sports-themed dice tower/tray has been on my mind.  A multi-use “arena” for hockey and basketball.

Past vs. Present

In my baseball projects, I find that I have little or no interest in playing any season past 1990, except for the Giants’ postseason campaigns when they won the World Series.

Though my fictional baseball leagues are based in more recent years (2016-).

As for football, I’m content playing the 1967 Denver Broncos season, dabbling a bit in the 1958 NFL season.  I own the 2015 season only because of the Broncos Super Bowl championship, the majority of the other seasons that I own are pre-1990 as well.

I’ve had the itch to play football lately, but my disillusionment with the current NFL has stopped me from starting a new project with more recent teams and seasons.

The fictional league that I played with Pen & Paper Football was fun, but that was more of a quick-play game.

So I may go back to a project that I started to put together back in 2014: the Football Clubs of America league, using the 2014 Football America fictional league from PLAAY Games.

I went as far as renaming the teams and creating a schedule, so I may start from there again and maybe play a game occasionally.

The teams:

National Conference
Golden Bay Invaders
Los Angeles Bulldogs
New York Knights
Oklahoma City Wranglers
Portland Storm
San Antonio Riders

American Conference
Chicago Winds
Detroit Wheels
Memphis Hound Dogs
New Jersey Generals
Orlando Renegades
Philadelphia Bell

16-week schedule, no byes, teams play conference opponents twice and non-conference opponents once, top conference teams meet in the Championship Game.

We’ll see if I ever get this project started or not.

Stay tuned!

Edit: my mistake, it’s actually the Football America 2013 season.

Red White & Blue Racin’: Pioneers

A few weeks back I got the Stock Car Racing Pioneers set for the Red White & Blue Racin’ game.

And even though I already have 3 series underway (1979 Winston Cup, 2016 SCRAM, 2016 SCRAM Trucks), I came up with a preliminary 32-race schedule for the Pioneers Series.  I looked up a list of appropriate product brands for the series, which is based in the 1950s, as all tracks are from that era.

Most of these tracks are small dirt tracks.

The first and last races listed are on fictional tracks that I decided to locate in Hanford, Washington and Fresno, California.

Driver list with car sponsors will soon follow.
