2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 19

July 15th, 2012: the Bitty Beer 400 @ Southern Super Speedway.

Race results:

There was an early race crash involving a dozen cars running in the rear of the field, knocking out two from the race.

A late pit stop violation resulted in Wayne Montana finishing as the last car running, in 38th place.

Current standings:

Montana’s 38th place finish allowed Stu Yurich to reclaim the points lead.

2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 17

July 1st, 2012: the Amicable Insurance 500 @ Great Lakes International Raceway.

Race results:

Last race winner Pete MacAtee wrecked during qualifying and failed to make the starting grid.

Dave Lilly dominated most of the race, until he dropped out of the lead and experienced a smoking engine, resulting in a black flag and ending up the last car running.

Current standings:

Despite a DNF (cooling system), Wayne Montana maintains the points lead.

2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 16

June 24th, 2012: the Plantation 400 @ Dixie Regional Raceway.

Race results:

Only one DNF in the race, and we’re at the halfway point of the season.

Other news:

  • Vince Moore of the #22 Time Masters Chevy was injured during qualifying and could not race, he should be back for qualifying in the next race.
  • Phil Clooney of the #49 Wayne Enterprises Toyota was hit with sanctions and a 5-point penalty for rules violations.

Current standings:

Wayne Montana stays atop the points lead as the shuffle continues in the next 4 spots due to Pete MacAtee’s win this week.

2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 13

June 3rd, 2012: the Foursquare.com 400 @ Northwest Empire International Raceway.

Race results:

A prerace altercation between Garry Pyne and Stu Yurich carried over onto the track, and both drivers ended up taking each other out, resulting in both drivers dropping below new points leader Wayne Montana and tying for second place with Francisco Segovia.
