1987: Opening Day

2 games on my desktop:

Game 1:

Final from Candlestick Park:

Despite a strong outing by Mike Krukow, the Giants drop the home opener to the Padres.

Game 2:

Final from Shea Stadium:

The Mets pound the Pirates, with late back-to-back home runs by Mex and the Kid, for an Opening Day win.

I’ll probably play a couple of games from the 1967 Giants replay next.

Stay tuned!

1974: John D’Acquisto, Game 7

May 8, 1974

Shea Stadium, Flushing, NY

Final from Shea Stadium:

Complete game shutout for John D’Acquisto, with home runs by Bobby Bonds and Garry Maddox.

D’Acquisto: win, record now 4-2 (actual result: loss, record: 2-3)

Next game: May 13, 1974: John D’Acquisto vs. Don Gullett @ Riverfront Stadium

Stay tuned!

Mail Call

Two items from PLAAY.com in the mail:

  • History Maker Baseball 5.0 rule book and game book: updated rules/charts and stuff, good prompt to get me back into this game
  • Red White & Blue Racin’ 2018 SCRAM season set: currently running the 2016 season, may get the 2017 season before starting this one

How many racing series can I concurrently run before going nuts?  I’m doing 3 so far.

And perhaps I should also revisit the Bay Area Baseball League, while I’m at it.

Stay tuned!

1967: Giants Replay, Games 74 & 75

Double-header in Philly!

Finals from Shibe Park:

Game 1:

Game 2:

What’s worse than losing a game by walking in the winning run?

Hitting a batter with the bases loaded, which is exactly what Lindy McDaniel did.  He plunked Dick Allen with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th to hand the win to the Phillies.
