Tennis!

For my first match up, mostly to relearn how to play this game, I played a set between these two.

Set tied at 6,  Arthur Ashe won the tiebreaker 7-5.

I think I scored everything correctly.

I’m gonna try a full match soon with the pairings that my friend Tony gave me.

Eventually I’ll try a tournament or two with the fictional sets.

Stay tuned!

Service!

First off, kudos once again to PLAAY Games for a quick delivery (ordered Wednesday, arrived Monday) of their newly released printed edition of Let’s PLAAY Tennis.

Great service!

I snagged a print-and play copy during their 2022 holiday sale, and fumbled my way through a couple of sets to learn now to play, but once I heard that they were going to release a full blown printed version I set aside the print and play and waited for this release.

Tennis and golf are both games I grew up watching on TV.

After Mom passed away I stopped watching regularly, maybe stopping on a match while channel surfing if someone I recognized was playing.  Unfortunately, it got to a point where the Williams sisters were the only ones I recognized.

Same happened with golf after Dad passed away, to a lesser degree, but that’s another story.

I had been playing table top golf on and off for about 10 years, after my brother sent me a copy of ASG Golf, and then getting my own copies of APBA Golf and PLAAY’s History Maker Golf.

For tennis, I had a different print-and-play tennis game about 8 years ago (Diggin’ Deep Tennis), but never managed to get it out on my tabletop to play.

Flash forward to this morning, and the arrival of this new tennis game, and I’m already excited about playing it.

My friend Tony has requested a few match ups, and I had one of my own that I planned to play.

Michael Chang was a guy I remember rooting for back in college, though Arthur Ashe I barely remember seeing.

But flipping through the rest of the All-Time Great player cards a while ago just made me go though a rather nostalgic trip, remembering seeing a lot of those names on TV from grade school through college.

Really looking forward to playing this game soon.

1995: Stock Car Racing America

Just released from PLAAY Games, this throwback fictional season featured the debut of Wayne Montana, who is retiring in their latest (2023) SCRAM season.

He’s the backup driver for Greg Doty in the #66 Megadodo Publications Dodge.

In 1996, he’ll be hired as the full time driver for the #99 LexCorp Chevy, vacated by the retiring Bobby Parris.

1995 season schedule:

I may run the first race this weekend.

Stay tuned!

Mach GoGoGo

I’ve decided to focus on finishing up the 2012 SCRAM racing series before dong anything else (baseball, hockey, soccer), mainly because this came in on Wednesday:

I also have the 1960 SCRAM season underway, so I’d like to finish one (or both?) of these before starting another season.

At this rate I may play out all the SCRAM seasons (2012-2023) before getting back to NASCAR seasons for this game.  Maybe alternate between SCRAM and NASCAR?

Stay tuned!

2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 19

July 15th, 2012: the Bitty Beer 400 @ Southern Super Speedway.

Race results:

There was an early race crash involving a dozen cars running in the rear of the field, knocking out two from the race.

A late pit stop violation resulted in Wayne Montana finishing as the last car running, in 38th place.

Current standings:

Montana’s 38th place finish allowed Stu Yurich to reclaim the points lead.

Next: the Doby’s Firecracker 400 @ Heart of America Motor Speedway.

Stay tuned!
