Curbing my Enthusiasms

As a side note, I seriously have to curb the number of ‘active’ projects I have going, and stick with games (and sports) that I like to play.

Baseball and racing will always have a spot in my rotation.  Soccer and hockey take the next tier, with football and basketball lower on my list.

I also have golf, tennis, boxing, wrestling and lacrosse in various forms.  Of those, I have to be in the right mood/mindset to play any of those.  None of those games are ones I consider playing with a long-term ‘season’ or replay.

And then there’s the least played games: bowling, roller derby, demolition derby, and some interesting fictional sports.  Someday, I keep telling myself.

I just started the 2013 SCRAM season, and the 2024 SCRAM/SCRAM-B sets arrived in the mail today.  Yikes.

So yeah, I need to curb my habit, considering the vast amount of other hobbies I have and would like to pursue as well.

Sometimes I have to tell myself that.  Like now.

No, I’m not going to complete the APBA base game collection with the football game.

I have a very old set from 1996, with two teams from 1995: San Francisco and Kansas City.

I looked at the price of the game online: $44.

I then looked at the price of an NFL season set: over $100 for anything post-1966!  And they don’t even have 1997 available!

I also perused a couple of videos on YouTube, one stating that I’d have to get the new base game to play with the new card sets, I couldn’t play the seasons with my old game.

And seeing how I hardly play football games anyway (have yet to finish a season replay), this purchase is a big fat no.

Second Season/SS Express will scratch that football itch when I get it, along with the two quick play options I have, Game-Winning Drive FB and Fast Drive FB.

Tom Rossi wins the opening race of the season.

Current standings:

Tom Rossi and Dave Lilly share the points lead due to Lilly gaining a bonus point for leading the most laps in the race.
