Return to SSX

Second Season Express still takes a while to play a game.

Not as long as a regular Second Season game, but still longer than other Express games from PLAAY.

Still, I may try to power through and finally finish the 1967 Denver Broncos season replay this week.

The plan is to finish some of these season replays that have been sitting idle under the full PLAAY games using the Express version, specifically this 1967 Broncos replay, perhaps the 1966-67 NHL replay, and maybe the 1974 John D’Acquisto season replay.

I may start a 1974 fictional Lacrosse season replay once Lacrosse Blast Express arrives.

Stay tuned!

Future Plans

I plan on continuing the following ongoing replays:

Baseball
1921 NY Giants (Payoff Pitch Baseball)
1971 SF Giants (Ball Park Baseball)
Soccer
2015-16 Tottenham Hotspur (APBA Soccer)
2020-21 AFC Richmond (Dice United)
Racing
1984 Winston Cup (Red White & Blue Racin’)
2012 SCRAM (Red White & Blue Racin’)
Football
1960 Denver Broncos (Fast Drive Football)
1967 Denver Broncos (Second Season/Second Season Express/Inside Blitz/Grid Iron Wars)

At some point I plan on adding hockey and basketball into the mix, as time permits.  I just have to decide which replays to include:

Hockey
1966-67 NHL (Hockey Blast)
1969-70 Oakland Seals (Hockey Blast)
1991-92 San Jose Sharks (APBA)
2013-14 IHL (Hockey Blast, fictional)
2022-23 Central Cities League (Stone Cold Hockey, fictional)

Basketball
1960-61 Syracuse Nationals (Bank Shot Basketball)
1966-67 San Francisco Warriors (Inside the Paint)
2022-23 Basketball League of America (Highlight Maker Hoops, fictional)

And of course I’ll be tracking all the games right here.

Stay tuned!

Blood Bowl Paint Schemes

After some thought, the latest Skaven and new Necromantic teams will get some NFL team colors.

Skaven team will be The Hydra’s Teeth, in the colors of the Miami Dolphins.

Necromantic team will be the Monster Mashup, in the colors of the Baltimore Ravens.

Hopefully I’ll get to them sooner rather than later, and before I change my mind.

Stay tuned!

1990: Bears Replay Game 19

Uncharted territory, as this game was actually played between the Giants and 49ers.

Final from Candlestick Park: (Game 19 – January 20, 1991)

Blowout win by the 49ers.  Bears go one more game than in real life, but fall short of the Big Game.

I’m gonna play the Super Bowl that didn’t happen,  the 49ers vs. Bills.  Can the 49ers three-peat?

Stay tuned!

1990: Bears Replay Game 18

This is as far as the Bears went in the 1990 post season, having been defeated by the New York Giants in the Divisional Round.

Final from Giants Stadium: (Game 18 – January 13, 1991)

In this replay, the Bears move on to the NFC Championship Game at Candlestick Park vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Next: NFC Championship game vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

Stay tuned!

1990: Bears Replay Game 16

This was a replay that I started 6 years ago, playing out the rest of the 1990 season with Jim Harbaugh not injured down the stretch.

The one game I had played with the full Second Season rules resulted in the Bears beating Tampa Bay 23-10.

As with my 1967 Broncos replay I never went back to it because of the time involved in playing a full game of Second Season.

Now that I’ve rediscoved Second Season Express, football games go MUCH quicker and the results suit me fine.

So here we go with the rest of this replay!

Final from Soldier Field: (Game 16 – December 30, 1990)

Jim Harbaugh throws 5 touchdown passes in the final game of the regular season.

The Bears lost this game in real life, but the win doesn’t affect the standings (Bears still win the division) or the playoff matchups (Bears still face off against the #3 wildcard spot, the New Orleans Saints).

Next up: Wildcard Playoff Game: New Orleans Saints vs. Chicago Bears.

Stay tuned!
