Bingo chips

So what’s with the Bingo chips that I got today?

In Red White & Blue Racing, there are certain drivers in every race that are designated as ‘TV drivers’, who are featured (for good or bad reasons) during the race week, and get a better chance in qualifying and in advancing forward during a race.

In the original game, the TV drivers are identified by a slightly different colored card.

But another player on the PLAAY.com Facebook page showed off his idea of using a different colored ‘chip’ to designate the TV drivers.

The ones that I got are slightly bigger than the game’s original blue ‘performance’ chips, which are used by drivers to win or fend off challenges for position with other drivers.

This change eliminates the need for the second set of cards, thus speeding up setup and reducing the contents in the box.

This may or may not change the likelihood of me playing this game more often.  Which is good considering the number of race seasons I have and the current replays I have running (SCRAM 2016, SCRAM Trucks Pepsi Cup, Winston Cup 1979).

Year’s End Status Report

With 24 games to go, I seriously doubt that the 1967 Giants Season Replay will be completed by year’s end.  I’m too distracted to sit down and play those games right now.

Everything else is ‘play it by ear’, but the distractions will probably keep me from most if not all of my current replays.

We’ll see how it goes.

Stay tuned!

1979: College Station

June 3rd, 1979: Texas 400

Race results and current standings:

Your race winner, in real life and in this replay, Darrel Waltrip!

Despite starting 4th, Waltrip had an early race incident which sent him to the back of the field.  This was a hard fought win, as he charged through the pack to lead the final 5 laps for the victory.

Next: the NAPA Riverside 400 @ Riverside International Raceway.

Red White & Blue Racin’: Pioneers

A few weeks back I got the Stock Car Racing Pioneers set for the Red White & Blue Racin’ game.

And even though I already have 3 series underway (1979 Winston Cup, 2016 SCRAM, 2016 SCRAM Trucks), I came up with a preliminary 32-race schedule for the Pioneers Series.  I looked up a list of appropriate product brands for the series, which is based in the 1950s, as all tracks are from that era.

Most of these tracks are small dirt tracks.

The first and last races listed are on fictional tracks that I decided to locate in Hanford, Washington and Fresno, California.

Driver list with car sponsors will soon follow.

1909: On Hold

I came up with the rosters for the Deadball 1909 league, but then decided not to build it further for now, since I still have:

  • 1967 SF Giants season replay
  • 1917 MLB replay
  • 1921 NY Giants replay
  • 1967 Denver Broncos replay
  • 1958 NFL replay
  • 1979 Winston Cup replay
  • 2016 SCRAM season
  • 2016 SCRAM trucks season

on top of the Deadball 2018 SFBAL season.

That’s a lot of stuff. That list doesn’t even include the mini-replays (John D’Acquisto rookie season, Doc Gooden Cy Young season, various Giant-Dodgers replays, MLB Postseason replays, etc.).

And then there’s the occasional golf tournament, wrestling event and boxing match.

And the non-sports table top games.

So little time.

The Deadball 1909 season may or may not ever materialize.  At least not in the near future.
