Bingo chips

So what’s with the Bingo chips that I got today?

In Red White & Blue Racing, there are certain drivers in every race that are designated as ‘TV drivers’, who are featured (for good or bad reasons) during the race week, and get a better chance in qualifying and in advancing forward during a race.

In the original game, the TV drivers are identified by a slightly different colored card.

But another player on the PLAAY.com Facebook page showed off his idea of using a different colored ‘chip’ to designate the TV drivers.

The ones that I got are slightly bigger than the game’s original blue ‘performance’ chips, which are used by drivers to win or fend off challenges for position with other drivers.

This change eliminates the need for the second set of cards, thus speeding up setup and reducing the contents in the box.

This may or may not change the likelihood of me playing this game more often.  Which is good considering the number of race seasons I have and the current replays I have running (SCRAM 2016, SCRAM Trucks Pepsi Cup, Winston Cup 1979).

Mail Call

Two items from PLAAY.com in the mail:

  • History Maker Baseball 5.0 rule book and game book: updated rules/charts and stuff, good prompt to get me back into this game
  • Red White & Blue Racin’ 2018 SCRAM season set: currently running the 2016 season, may get the 2017 season before starting this one

How many racing series can I concurrently run before going nuts?  I’m doing 3 so far.

And perhaps I should also revisit the Bay Area Baseball League, while I’m at it.

2016: SCRAM Race #2

March 6, 2016: The Ice Brew 600 @ the Northern Lights Motordome, Northern USA:

Race winner: Austin Bigler, #77 Shinra Electric Chevy

After 2 races (and a long gap between those two races), Geoff Daly, Jr. leads the series by a point over Tom Rossi.

Both Bigler and Rossi started deep in the field (37th and 38th) and made their way to the front to finish 1st and 2nd, respectively.

Next up: the Gulf Oil 500 @ the Gulf Coast Motor Speedway, US Gulf Coast.

Schedule

Yeah, this never has worked for me: setting up a schedule for what to play on any given day.

I had a table that I rolled dice one to try to determine what game I would play on a given night.  Didn’t work, never stuck to it, and it was edited many times as I finished a given replay.

I want to try to organize my play between sports games and war games, so maybe I should just alternate my weekly focus from one to the other, because I’ve actually found myself frozen into inaction as I try to decide between the two hobbies.  I end up doing neither and spending too much time online or wallowing in my own indecision.

So starting this week, I’ll continue with the war games (Bataan! is my primary focus), and switch to sports next week, just in time for the big racing day of 2017 (Monaco GP/Indy 500/World 600), which happens to fall on my sister’s birthday.  Focus will be on baseball and (of course) racing games.

And maybe wrestling.

Racing

So instead of Winston Cup 1979, I decided to go back to one of the 2016 fictional series that I started…

The Stock Car Racing America (SCRAM) Pepsi Cup Racing Series.  TRUCK RACING!

Event #4: Windows 10 400 from the Northwest Empire International Raceway.

On the pole: Kelly Wiley in the #22 Honda Ridgeline.

The Facebook favorites:

  • David Loutitt starts 5th in the #12 BMW Modified X5
  • Chris Saguisag starts 31st in the #24 Honda Ridgeline
  • Turbo Gayle starts 35th in the #3 Chevy Silverado
