2012: Stock Car Racing America, Race 1

One of the first non-baseball tabletop sports games that I picked up was Red White & Blue Racin’ from PLAAY Games.  It’s been one of the games I’ve consistently played for 10 years.

The first full season I played was the homebrewed 2012 Starbucks Cup, which took me a couple of years to finish, as did the 1979 NASCAR Winston Cup replay and the Stock Car America (SCRAM) 2016 Trucks Series (Pepsi Cup).

I’ve since begun 3 more series: 1960 SCRAM, 1984 NASCAR, and 2016 SCRAM.  I’m about 15 races into the 2016 SCRAM season, but I’ve decided to put all three on hold.

I picked up the 2012 SCRAM season shortly after I picked up the original game.  Over the years I had picked up that previous year’s NASCAR season, until Jeff Gordon retired in 2015.  I then began to collect the SCRAM seasons starting with 2016.  I’ve been running the 2016 on and off for the past 6 years.

During this year’s PLAAY holiday sale, they offered the SCRAM Anthology, all seasons from 2012-2022.  I passed on ordering it since I had all the seasons except for 2013-2015.  I contacted Keith Avallone at PLAAY Games about ordering just those seasons, and he said there was no problem doing that, so I did.

I then decided to start fresh and begin the SCRAM Anthology with the 2012 season.  Here’s hoping I can finish an entire season (or two?) within a calendar year!

March 4th, 2012: the Ice Brew 600 @ Northern Lights MotorDome.

Stepping Back

Even though I’m about halfway done with the 2016 SCRAM Racing Series, I’ve decided to put that and the 1960 SCRAM season on hold and start at the beginning of SCRAM history, and run the 2012 season, which I bought shortly after picking up the original game 10 years ago.

From there I plan to run the next season’s schedule (SCRAM 2013) and so on, until I get caught up to SCRAM 2022 (or later).

First race will be run fairly soon.

Stay tuned!

1960: SCRAM Race #3

About time I got back to this series, and the new playmat from PLAAY games makes me want to run more races anyway.

The Dot Cola 100 @ Dixie Regional Raceway, Southern U.S.

Race results and current standings:

Boyce Daly returns from his 2-race suspension and finished 20th.

Elden Briscoe wins from the pole, leading every lap, and hold on to the points lead.

Next: the Sun Coast Capital 500 @ Sun King Speedway.
