2018-19: EPL, Game 1

Despite my preference for non-quick play soccer games, I decided to give Ultra Quick Soccer a try.

I think I found my go-to system to play the season’s games for teams that I’m not playing in Net Results Soccer, at least for the 2018-19 season (i.e. everyone except Cardiff City).

It takes a few minutes to setup and play a game, with at least 2 die rolls to determine a game score, though some games may require 6 or more.

And there’s an option to determine who actually scored.

I can probably knock off a team’s season schedule in an hour or so.

11 Aug 2018:

Newcastle United 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Goals: NEW: Perez 22′ TOT: Longstaff (OG) 9′, Eriksen 30′

Not much in the way of stats for this game, like all other quick play games.  Which is the point.

Only 341 games to go.

1947?

I was curious about the early days of the San Francisco 49ers, and an internet search later I discovered that they had started in the All-American Football Conference, not the NFL.

So of course I looked around to see if any table top sports games that I owned had any seasons available from the AAFC (1946-1949).

The oldest I could find was the 1947 AAFC season for Grid Iron Wars.

I may play this season using the 49ers and the Buffalo Bills.

1971: Giants Replay, Game 15

While I did play a game from 1917 on New Years Day, I have a few more games from that day (April 17, 1917)  to get through before posting the daily scores.

Technically that was the first game I played in 2020, though this is the first result that I’m posting.

Final from Candlestick Park:

Juan Marichal got shelled, and the bullpen didn’t fare any better.

SBI Fight 4: Klitschko vs. Lewis

“Some say Lewis retired to avoid this fight.” – Scott Bullerwell

If the results of this table top simulation is any indication, Scott was right.

Klitschko knocks out Lewis at 1:38 in the first round.

I meant to start this fight this morning, before going to work, and continue when I got home.  I didn’t think it would be over before finishing the round.

Next up: David Tua vs. Mike Tyson.

1991: NBA Finals, Game 1

So I finally pushed myself to learn how to play SSG Basketball, and play the first game of my alternate 1991 NBA Finals.

In this series, Golden State is facing off against Chicago.

6 minutes into the first quarter, the score is tied 21-21.  Tim Hardaway has 8 points for the Warriors while Scottie Pippen has 10 for the Bulls.

I really like how easily this game seems to flow.
