1967: NHL

As if I didn’t have enough sports replays on my plate, I decided to expand the 1966-67 Toronto Maple Leafs replay into a full NHL season replay, which is about 210 games long.

My reacquaintance with PLAAY’s Hockey Blast has me wanting to play more hockey, but we’ll see if I can fit it in to my non-existent play schedule.

Perhaps I need to create one of those die-roll decider tables again.

I managed to play game one of the 1966-67 NHL season, but I may replay the game  because I wasn’t happy with the way I was chronicling the game itself.

So though Detroit beat Boston 4-1 in that first game, I’m wiping the slate clean and will start the season over.

Sure, let’s add the 1947 49ers replay, and put the 1967 Warriors replay back on the schedule.

Difficulty

I still can’t seem to pick up playing table top basketball or hockey.

i was able to learn a new football game today without any problems.

I can play baseball, auto racing, soccer, football, boxing, wrestling and golf games.

But every time I start to setup and read the rules for hockey or basketball, my brain can’t seem to grok.

Frustrating.

In Progress, Revised Revision

I’m having so much fun playing Net Results Soccer that I’ve decided to make it my primary soccer sim, and Soccer Blast my secondary.  The top three soccer replays listed are played with Net Results, the last one played with Soccer Blast.  Final Score and The Beautiful Game are being semi-permanently shelved.

The tables now reflect the priority that I place in playing these replays.  Baseball, soccer, and auto racing are my top played games.  I haven’t touched football in almost 3 years, and have yet to start basketball or hockey.

Baseball season sims (1917, 1921, 1971) are all Ball Park Baseball, short projects are played with History Maker Baseball (D’Acquisto ’74) and Inside Pitch (Gooden ’85).

Racing sims are all Red White & Blue Racing.

Football (Broncos ’67) is split between Inside Blitz and Second Season.  The Harbaugh ’90 project is played with Second Season.

Basketball (Warriors ’67) will be played with Inside the Paint.

Hockey will be played with Inside the Crease (Leafs ’67) and Hockey Blast (2014 quarter finals).

In Progress, Revised

I’ve cut back on projects by picking the full season replays that I plan to actually play in the next 3 months or so.  This eliminated a few long dormant items on my list, allowing me to focus on what I’m already playing, and also allows me to narrow the choices on what else to play.

I’ve also separated the ‘short’ projects (less than a season, individual pitcher seasons, playoff runs) into their own list.

And of course there’s stuff like the heavyweight boxing tournament in Title Bout II and the Facebook Friends Wrestling Federation in Face to the Mat which are more like casual pick-up games that don’t require a schedule.

I hope to finally tally a game in both hockey and basketball fairly soon.

I have decided that these will be the projects that I will focus on for the time being.

Seasonal Additions

Thanks to PLAAY.com’s Holiday sale, the following will be added to my long list of unplayed sports seasons:

  • MLB 1999 post-season for History Maker Baseball
  • NHL 1957-58 season for Hockey Blast
  • SCRAM-B 2018 season for Red White & Blue Racing
  • EPL 2017-18 season for Soccer Blast

I’m guessing that I’ll play 1999 or SCRAM-B first.

Biscuit in the Basket, or From Way Downtown… BANG

I’m going to sound like a broken record, but I’m going to try my best to FINALLY play a hockey or basketball game by the end of the month.

I should try to start the 1966-67 replay in either sport, either the Toronto Maple Leafs or San Francisco Warriors season replays.

PLAAY.com just updated Hockey Blast to version 5.0, and I’m interested in their All-Time Franchise Great Teams #2 set, which has the Sharks.

And the temptation to build yet another sports-themed dice tower/tray has been on my mind.  A multi-use “arena” for hockey and basketball.
